DESCRIPTION OF POSITION/DUTIES:
The Principal Engineer is responsible for the technical design and implementation of software solutions, as well as providing technical leadership to multiple software development teams. You will be a member of Solutions Development team, which develops software for multiple purposes for All Points and its partners.
- Design, develop, and execute software solutions to address business requirements
- Consider product strategy, time to market, cost, user experience, and available resources as part of overall architectural solutions
- Responsible for the technical design and implementation of software solutions, as well as providing technical leadership to multiple software development teams.
- Database design and data modeling (relational and noSQL databases)
- Analyze and evaluate technologies and vendors to drive strategic and tactical recommendations
- Partners with engineering, operations, and support functions to implement robust software application delivery capability. Collaborates with others on the project to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem.
- Researches, evaluates, and pilots new application services and capabilities and remains abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
- Manages and performs hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation.
- Participates as an SME in corporate IT, Information Security Risk Management, Compliance, etc. meetings.
- Champion security and infrastructure best practices.
- Ensures that all projects are high quality.
- Working with team to plan, prioritize, and complete project assignments.
- Provides direct and responsive support for urgent analytic needs.
- Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience, or greater than 10 years experience (no degree)

- 10 years of technical leadership and architecture experience
- Demonstrated experience in solution architecture, DevOps practices, and cloud integration. Ability to understand complex systems and data flows.
- Strong experience understanding and experience in software development and software-defined infrastructure.
- Skilled in Agile delivery methodologies. Work well in an Agile/Scrum environment, but also can be responsive to urgent requests. Understands software development lifecycle best practices. Experienced leading and developing successful technology teams.
- Experience with requirements management. Collaborate with product owner on requirements and UX.
- Experience in multiple development languages (Java, C#, JIRA, Python, JavaScript) and scripting technologies. Database Administration experience with SQL (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL). Programming & scripting ability to support automation & integration with third party tools.
- Ability to conduct and perform design and peer reviews.
- Ability to take ownership of the definition, design, development, delivery and quality for last feature sets, subsystems, or products.
- Strong analytical skills to efficiently troubleshoot and determine root cause for a variety of problems.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills to communicate professionally with representatives within and outside of the organization.
- Strong experience utilizing virtualization & container technologies.
- Experience with managing complex source control repositories.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities appropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time frames.
- Self-motivated and willing to take responsibility for delivering projects on time with high quality.
- Impeccable attention to detail yet has a strong bias for action
- United States Citizenship Required
- Public Trust/NACI/Badging or the ability obtain a US DoD Security Clearance
