Description
Job Title : Bartender
Department : Front of House
Reports To : Bar Manager
Summary : Bartenders have an extensive knowledge of drinks that they use to make recommendations to customers. Bartenders also entertain customers by providing stimulating conversation while filling drink orders. Regular duties include greeting customers, ensuring customers are of legal drinking age, learning about their preferences, answering questions, recommending menu items and preparing requested drinks to specification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet and welcome guests
  • Verify identification and age requirements of customers
  • Mix traditional and inventive cocktails
  • Process card and cash transactions
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive display
  • Clean glasses and bar utensils
  • Clean bar, surrounding area, sinks, counters, chairs and other equipment
  • Inventory supplies and equipment to ensure adequate levels
  • Slices and pits fruit for garnishing drinks
  • Keep an eye on intoxication levels and respond appropriately
  • Identify belligerent customers and work with management when needed to maintain a safe environment
  • Empty wastebaskets and remove trash
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Tips certification preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reading and writing abilities with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
