The Emery/Weiner School seeks qualified candidates for the Director of Enrollment Management who will lead all of the school’s efforts to attract and retain students and families through the admissions process. They will serve on the Senior Administrative Team and work closely with this team to devise long-range and annual plans to enhance the school’s recruitment and retention initiatives. The Director will be a warm, open, and skilled communicator and a data-driven, collaborative decision maker. They will have the ability and willingness to toggle between big-picture vision and day-to-day execution. The Director will value strong customer service and be able to thrive in a dynamic and diverse environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a comprehensive admissions strategic plan focused on expansion and retention including a revolving 90 day, 6 month, and one year strategies. Responsible for meeting progressive enrollment goals and working toward continual growth of the program.
  • Direct the enrollment management process from the initial point of inquiry through to enrollment.
  • Present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and applicant data; communication with candidates and their parents; tours of the school; interviews with candidates and their parents; arrangements for admissions testing; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
  • Develop and monitor the admissions budget, and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer on reporting and projections.
  • Oversee and coordinate all recruitment efforts, including school recruitment nights, community events, and the student shadow process.
  • Oversee the design, production, placement and distribution of marketing materials as well as media relations strategy for the school in conjunction with the Associate Director of Communications.
  • Initiate and create activities intended to interest parents and potential supporters in sending students to The Emery/Weiner School.
  • Promote good relationships and create networking opportunities and support with representatives from outside institutions or groups (schools, synagogues, other Jewish institutions, community centers, real estate agencies, etc.) that can be helpful in attracting quality students.
  • Evaluate program continually and implement improvements to the admissions work flow and technology solutions with the goal of increasing efficiency, efficacy, and maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants.
  • Work closely with the Head of School and Division Heads to manage the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year by organizing specific retention efforts at the key grade levels and maintaining constant monitoring of attrition and retention.
  • Serve as the primary steward for new families and coordinate special programs for new families with the Division Heads, Teachers, Senior Administration, and Parent Association.
  • Oversee the network of parents, former parents, and alumni to assist in the admissions program.
  • Organize recruiting and cultivation events and social gatherings for new, prospective, and current families, alumni, community members, etc.
  • Keep statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program. Interpret and report these statistics to the administration, faculty, and board of trustees.
  • Build knowledge of current trends and best practices in the field by attending workshops, seminars, and conferences and represent the school at various gatherings and conferences related to admissions.
  • Supervise Admissions Team.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3-5 years in a directly comparable position in education or in a related position in public relations, customer relations, marketing or sales.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and skilled public speaker.
  • Knowledge of independent school admissions process preferred.
  • Strong administrative and data management skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Abilities:
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend recruiting or cultivation events.
  • Ability to articulate and advocate for the School’s mission and philosophy.
  • Ability to work effectively and relate well with others including superiors, colleagues, parents, students, and community members. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain positive and constructive working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, remain open to others’ ideas and exhibits willingness to try new things.
  • Ability to create long-term and short-term strategic plans and projections. Ability to anticipate issues and offer solutions
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills and conduct meetings.
  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and monitor own work to ensure quality.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
Physical Skills and Abilities: Depending on the assignment, this position frequently involves standing, walking, sitting, and manipulating (lifting, carrying, moving) light to medium weights of 10 - 50 pounds in the course of coordinating work. This position also frequently involves finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity, and may sometimes involve stooping, kneeling, and crouching in the course of coordinating work.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a normal office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job.
