Overview

Jhpiego is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Compensation to join their dynamic Global Human Resources team. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources & Administrative Officer (CHRAO), the Senior Manager, Global Compensation will be accountable for the design and administration of Jhpiego’s Compensation Program for US and Global staff including but not limited to career architecture, job classification, market pricing, pay studies, policy and Wage & Hour Laws interpretations, compensation education and training. This position acts as a thought partner to Senior Management, Leadership and Country Teams to build compensation frameworks that define and standardize policy and processes. Assumes lead responsibility for and assists with compensation projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

Compensation Management & Administration

  • Consults with senior team members i.e. Senior Management and country leaders to design, define and finalize compensation structure(s), including career frameworks/ladders and profiles.
  • Designs new elements of the compensation program to ensure it is responsive to complex market movement.
  • Manages continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiencies and transparency of Jhpiego’s compensation program.
  • Conducts job analysis and classifies a wide variety of jobs across job families for Jhpiego’s US and international offices.
  • Establish pay structures that are reflective or market positioning, ensuring the organization is competitively positioned to align with overarching organizational strategies.
  • Collaborates with the central JHU compensation team on compensation matters related to classified staff.
  • Works closely with the CHRAO to write global policies that ultimately guide the overall administration of the compensation program.

Compensation Advice & Guidance

  • Provides guidance to international country offices and or departments on salary actions; e.g., job reclassifications, developmental growth plans, promotions, bonus/pay supplements, overtime calculations, annual increases, internal/external equity adjustments, according to established policies and procedures and/or federal/state/local laws and regulations.
  • Delivers presentations and/or workshops, taking a transparent approach to educating staff about Jhpiego compensation program.
  • Provides advice, interpretation and guidance to management on compensation policies and processes.

Market Analyses

  • Conducts regular market assessments to industry best practices and compensation principles are integrated to Jhpiego’s compensation plan.
  • Performs comprehensive market analysis at Country level to ensure alignment of Jhpiego’s compensation program with changing economic conditions.
  • Conducts and presents detailed data analysis to determine competitive position to update salary range structures and market reference data annually for US and international staff.
  • Facilitates the Annual Merit Increase (AMI) cycle, including providing inputs to budget preparations.
  • Conducts special compensation studies of salary and pay practices, especially for our international offices.
  • Analyzes data, creates and presents reports, and develops recommendations as appropriate.

Special Projects

  • Leads compensation projects.
  • Guides projects from conceptualization to implementation, engaging colleagues within the US and globally.
  • Conducts and participates in annual salary surveys and ensures appropriate and benchmarking.

Supervision

  • Provides coaching, guidance and mentorship to direct report(s) where needed.
  • Sets targets and objectives for assigned area and delivers results.
  • Grows team expertise to align with program and organizational direction while continually looking for ways to provide / enhance the value delivered.
  • Leads a high-performing team and provides ongoing feedback and performance reviews.
  • Tracks, monitors and effectively addresses and / or rewards performance of team members.
  • Manages employees in compliance with all HR policies, procedures, guidelines.
  • Shares knowledge, information, skills and subject matter expertise among the team and ensures the timely communication of issues while encouraging good working relationships with other functions / teams.
  • Recruits for all hires to ensure a highly diverse, qualified workforce with the necessary capabilities needed to achieve goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or similar field from an accredited university.
  • Minimum years of experience: Eight (8) years related professional level experience that includes three years of progressive compensation experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the organization’s equivalency formula.
  • Working knowledge of compensation and organizational design principles, theories and concepts for administering programs, including working knowledge of compensation policies, procedures, best practices, applicable laws and regulations, e.g., Fair Labor Standards Act for both United States and other countries.
  • Demonstrable experience in compensation analysis for international offices and donor funded programs such as USAID would be preferred.
  • Requires experience with career architecture, job analysis, job classification system and market pricing within the NGO and international development market.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to conduct job audits/interviews, perform detailed analysis of qualitative and quantitative data including skill in creating complex spreadsheets which require the use of complex formulas. Detail oriented with the ability to think creatively, objectively and see the big picture.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others and interact with various levels of employees in a highly decentralized, complex and large organization.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with the ability to make difficult decisions and conduct difficult conversations effectively.
  • High level of discretion, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. Is ethical and is capable of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Travel Requirement's: Ability to travel internationally up to 10-20% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

The salary range for this role is expected to be: $100,000 - $120,000. Final salary commensurate with experience.
