Carolina Mornings is Hiring a House Cleaning Superstars in Maggie Valley! Near Lake Lure, NC

Here's the deal... we are the best house cleaning service in Western North Carolina, and we are always looking for the best cleaners to join our team!

We pay very well, because we expect superstars. We pay our full time cleaners $750 to $1000 a week. Part time cleaners are anything less than $750/week. Only want to clean 1 house a week? We can do that, too. As long as you're a superstar at that house.

Why go full time?

  • Full time cleaners get the benefits package (PTO, 401(k) Matching with vision/dental/health stipend, etc). Note, vision/dental/health/retirement are optional and are not included in pay.
  • Full time cleaners have a long term, dependable job. We have cleaners on our team that have been with us over 10 years! This is a viable career path with decent earning potential for the long haul.

How does it work?

Our formula is simple: After we train you to our minimum high standards, you clean homes to meet or exceed those standards after a guest checks out. We conduct random inspections of cleans, and we inspect after any guest complaints. If you pass the inspection, no worries! We stand behind you 100%.

If you fail the inspection, you'll be sent the inspection report along with the areas that you failed on. We expect you to take it to heart and show improvement. We will re-inspect you at random within two weeks following the failed inspection. If you pass the re-inspection, no worries! We stand behind you 100%.

If you fail the re-inspection, we will slow your schedule significantly and bring you back in for re-training. We'll go over the areas of concern, and ensure you know the standards.

Following retraining, we'll re-inspect you at random within 2 weeks (probably a lot sooner, honestly). If you pass the re-inspection, no worries! We stand behind you 100%.

If you fail the re-inspection again, we'll part ways as friends and wish you the best of luck in your future.

How does the pay work?

We pay by a system called "piece rate." That means we pay per home, not per hour. This means faster cleaners (who are superstars) can earn more. However, faster cleaners who cut corners won't last long!

A full time schedule is any combination of homes in a week that add up to $750 or more, on a consistent basis.

You will be a W2 employee, not a contractor.

Pet fees are baked into the piece rate. Not all guests at pet-friendly homes bring dogs, but we pay a little more at those homes for every clean because it is pet-friendly.

Mileage is baked into the piece rate. We do our best to schedule you in areas closer to your home, but superstars go where needed when needed, and being part of a team means being available to help in another area if needed. If you like earning $50K/year and rocking it, you'll understand. :)

Why would I not want this job?

Let's be clear: this job is not for everyone. You need to hustle to earn. We need you weekends. We need you holidays. We're a travel company and summer, leaf season, and holidays are when guests travel the most. We don't permit time off during these periods. Superstars show up when needed, where needed. Just being up front here.

There's a lot of driving involved, because our homes are all within a 1 hour radius of downtown Asheville, so our two furthest apart homes are 2 hours from each other. Again, we'll do our best to keep you in an area, but you'll spend a lot of time in your car.

4WD or AWD is preferred because some of our homes require one to get to. If you have one, you get access to these extra homes. You also have to be willing to drive to some beautiful locations and clean some gorgeous houses! Taking a break on the deck overlooking 70 miles of mountain ranges has its perks.

Humans are nasty creatures, and you'll be cleaning after folks with "vacation brain." Sometimes you walk into a home and you can't tell someone actually stayed there. Sometimes you walk into a home and you can't believe people are so nasty. Both cases pay the exact same, and both homes need to be "guest ready" (like no one ever stayed there before) within 6 hours.

ALL homes must be secured (doors locked, windows locked, lights off, AC set, etc) the day of departure, and must be cleaned within 48 hours of departure. That may mean running between 2 or 3 homes in one day make sure they're all secured.

We cannot guarantee pay amounts. It's based on how many travelers/cleans we have. Having said that, since 2020, we have never felt "fully staffed" and we have plenty of room to add team members now and keep a full load for everyone. We are careful to not overhire so we can keep our superstars scheduled and with us for the long term.

How do I make this happen?

Apply through indeed. Your profile on Indeed must show some sort of cleaning experience to be considered.

We DO call references, and we DO perform a background check. (If you have violence or theft in your background check, don't bother applying tbh).

We'll give you a call from our screener first. She'll start the conversation and go over specifics to make sure you'd be a good match. If so, she'll schedule you with the Housekeeping Manager for a formal interview, and she'll collect at least 4 professional references from you at that time. Please have them ready!

Assuming you impress our Housekeeping Manager, we'll move forward with the background check and new hire paperwork. You'll have 48 hours to complete. If you don't complete it within 48 hours we'll consider you to not be a serious applicant. We've found that folks who don't get this first step done on time don't last with us.

From there, we get you on the schedule for training and orientation. You'll go to a home with a seasoned cleaner who will show you the Carolina Mornings way to clean. You're paid hourly for this period ($12/hour). Once the trainer feels you've got it and are ready, you'll be shown the rest of the systems (scheduling, supplies, systems, etc) and be assigned your first schedule.

Within your first two weeks, you'll be inspected at least once. If you pass, no worries! We stand behind you 100%. :)
