Job Overview
The role of LCA Practitioner I supports the LCA and Corporate Sustainability programs by conducting quantitative analysis and modeling for use in carbon footprinting, GHG management, life cycle assessment projects, comparative LCAs, and related projects. In addition, LCA Practitioners will conduct research, interact with clients, write technical reports, and perform administrative support. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, presents an array of learning opportunities, and offers an opportunity for some travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the operational aspects of the Life Cycle Services program, including life cycle inventory and life cycle impact assessments
• Provide support for completing scope of life cycle assessment (LCA) contracts
• Assist in the development and maintenance of new and existing client base
• Occasional travel as required for client visits and/or tradeshows on behalf of SCS (approximately 10%)
• Support the Program Director and/or Technical Manager in communicating with clients and consultants
• Business and market development assistance
• Quality control (e.g., tracking developments of program requirements, and coordination of programmatic changes)
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical field
• Must be willing to learn the technical aspects of SCS’s life cycle inventory and life cycle impact assessment models and methodologies
• Broad-base of environmental knowledge and/or experience with various environmental mediums, pollutants/waste, and ecosystem and human health
• Complete fluency in English and work (or school) experience that involves professional written communication
• Superlative organizational skills, ability to prioritize numerous tasks effectively
• Experience with computers, including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word), File Maker, and database management
• Experience using LCA software, such as SimaPro, OpenLCA, or GaBi
• Strong customer service and teamwork orientation
• Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a fluid environment
• Abiding interest in sustainability and related environmental issues

Preferred Qualifications

• Industrial experience, including process evaluation, and/or knowledge of energy systems

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$65,000 - $93,000
