Position Summary
Aprofessional who utilizes the nursing process to assess, implement, coordinate,and evaluate patient care activities. Collaborate with other clinical associatesand Healthcare disciplines to meet individual needs using appropriate resourcesto ensure quality, safe, and cost-effective care. Nurtures a workingrelationship with physicians, nursing staff and other disciplines involved inthe care of the patient/family.
Job Responsibilities
·Followsphysicians’ orders for patient care and carries out duties in a timely manner
·Providespatient education for diet, exercise, medications, examination, test(s) orprocedure(s)
·Completesand documents assessments/re-assessments within period established bypolicy/procedure.
·Initiates,updates and communicates an appropriate multi-disciplinary plan of care basedin identified problems and/or patient needs
·Evaluatespatient response to care, revises plan of care as necessary and documentsappropriately
·Maintainssanitary clinical work environment
·Ensuresall pertinent records and results are obtained on each patient
·Adhereto OSHA PPE guidelines and safety program
·Ensuresthat physician is notified of all pertinent test results
·Referspatients to appropriate outside testing and appointments as instructed by thephysician
·Maintainsand re-stocks clinical supplies; notifies appropriate personnel of inventoryfor purchasing
·Performsany other duties deemed reasonable by the physician or supervisor
Qualifications
Educationand Experience: Completion of accredited nursing program. Maintain valid nursing license (LPN or RN)for the state of
Knowledge:Basic medical office procedures andmedical terminology with concentration in cardiology; first aid measures;equipment, supplies and instruments used in a medical office; simple routineinjections; universal blood and body fluid precautions; OSHA rules andregulations; various forms inherent to profession; patientconfidentiality/HIPAA regulations.
Abilities:Establish and maintain cooperativerelationships with staff members; create a responsive, caring environment forpatients; respond promptly to physicians’ directions; maintain medical recordsin a concise and accurate manner; react quickly in emergency situations;recognize and prevent possible safety hazards; ensure proper maintenance ofequipment; communicate clearly and facilitate patient education when warranted;act as advocate and assist physician in meeting the well-being needs of thecardiology patient; exercise independent judgment; perform functions thatconsistently fall within the legal boundaries of profession.
