Position Description:
Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is seeking Part-time Writing Center Tutors to assist students/faculty/staff with their writing needs. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume, and transcripts, you will be considered for Writing Center Tutor opportunities on a per semester basis. You must be currently enrolled Washtenaw Community College student with a minimum of 6 credit hours. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Actively and courteously assist students/faculty/staff with their writing needs. Comment on and respond to Writing Center assignments that students submit. Other duties as assigned. Hours/Schedule: Scheduled to work up to (but not exceeding) 20 hours/week (mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed).
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Currently enrolled Washtenaw Community College student with a minimum of 6 credit hours. A final grade of "A" in ENG 111: Composition I (or equivalent). Demonstrated skill in effective written communication, knowledge of grammar/punctuation/mechanics rules. Demonstrated knowledge of MLA and APA documentation styles. Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Blackboard, and Zoom. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends as needed.
