Shoreview, Minnesota, a premier City in the north metro area of the twin cities seeks an organized and detail-oriented candidate for its Aquatics Program Supervisor position.
This position supports aquatics operations for Tropics and Bamboo Bay indoor water parks and aquatic programs including swim lessons, water exercise, specialty aquatic programs, and special events. The Aquatics Program Supervisor hires, trains, schedules, and supervises swim instructors, aqua fitness instructors, aquatic program instructors, and supersitter instructors; while also serving as a pool coordinator providing work direction to other associate aquatics staff in the absence of their direct supervisor. Provides high quality customer service through communication with members, program participants, and guests while ensuring safety guidelines and pool policies are enforced. Maintains and operates pool systems, prepares operating budgets, and tracks and monitors revenues and expenses.
- Manages swim instructors, aqua fitness instructors, supersitter instructors and aquatics program instructors.
- Collaborates with human resources department on the recruitment and onboarding process.
- Screens applications; schedules and conducts interviews.
- Initiates onboarding process in NeoGov.
- Schedules and facilitates on-going staff training.
- Supervises, coaches, and evaluates staff on an on-going basis.
- Oversees daily aquatic operations in Tropics and Bamboo Bay which include:
- Chemical testing.
- Maintaining pool chemistry and keeping filtration system at optimal operational levels.
- Prioritizing pool cleanliness by vacuuming and removing large debris.
- Scheduling repair visits for pump room mechanics.
- Manages operating budgets.
- Develops annual budget reflecting expected revenue and expenses to present to the parks and recreation leadership.
- Tracks and monitors expenses and revenues.
- Processes invoices for accounts payable.
- Community outreach programs.
- Researches and develops outreach program opportunities in the community.
- Swim lessons, aqua fitness, and specialty aquatics programs.
- Creates program curriculum.
- Schedules programs and instructors.
- Develops seasonal aquatics programs schedule for quarterly brochure and enters program data in CivicRec.
- Researches marketing strategies and collaborates with the communications team to develop marketing materials.
- Assists with annual pool shutdown.
- Participates in scheduled cleaning and maintenance projects.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: - Associate degree in parks and recreation, community health, education or closely related field OR two years postsecondary education AND two years of progressively responsible work within an aquatics facility.
- Two years of customer service experience.
- Two years supervisory experience.
- Two continuous years teaching or supervising in a swim lesson program.
- Two years of experience in general recreation, aquatic specialty programs, or aquatic facility management.
- NSPF certified pool operator within 6 months of hire.
- Current lifeguard certification (Ellis and Associates, Red Cross, or Star Guard) or acquired within 6 months of hire.
- Lifeguard instructor certification (Ellis and Associates, Red Cross, or Star Guard) or attain within 6 months to 1 year of hire.
Desired Qualifications:- CivicRec Recreation Software experience.
- UKG timekeeping and advanced scheduling experience.
- Water safety instructor certification or equivalent.
- Aquatics programming experience (ex. Aqua fitness, BSA merit badges, and safety related programs).
Hiring Salary Range: $65,229 – $71,989 annually, plus excellent benefits. This position is Exempt from overtime pay.
