Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Communications is crucial for the success of the Arnhold Institute for Global Health and the Department of Global Health and Health System Design programs. They will lead the development, implementation, and coordination of communication strategies, working closely with Institute and Department leadership and Mount Sinai’s Communications, Marketing, and PR teams. Responsibilities include effective communication to key stakeholders, strengthening the Institute and Department brand, and supporting global health programs and partnerships.

Reporting to the Vice Chair of Operations and Director of Global Partnerships & Programs, the Assistant Director oversees the development and implementation of communication strategies, manages the Communications team, and ensures brand compliance. Additionally, they contribute to fundraising strategies and engagement with donors, oversee constituent management systems, and support communications for paid consultancies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

In this role, the Assistant Director:

• Plans, directs, and coordinates communication strategies to support the Institute and Department’s vision, mission, and goals.

• Serves as lead communications consultant for institutional consulting programs as assigned.

• Acts as the primary liaison to Mount Sinai’s branding, marketing, and communications teams.

• Participates in leadership meetings and advises on communication approaches and resource allocation.

• Manages the Communications team and oversees all media platforms.

• Develops partnerships to support program objectives and provides guidance and training to achieve goals.

• Manages budgets, presents program overviews, and maintains effective communication with stakeholders.

• Leads the development of communications strategies for fundraising and program implementation.

• Travels as needed to represent the Institute and Department at meetings and events.

Education & Experience Requirements

Minimum Education: Master’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: 5 years’ experience in global health programs, strategic planning, and program management, with experience in Low- and Middle-Income Countries preferred.

Level of Decision-Making

The Assistant Director will manage key operations, develop communication strategies, and make high-level decisions to support global health initiatives.

Salary: The salary range is $100,000 to $125,000.
