Senior Assurance Associate

A Senior Assurance Associate can perform most engagements with little supervision. They direct and review the work of an Associate Accountant and are very capable of making decisions on most accounting, tax and auditing matters. They are supervised in most cases by a manager and/ or partner on an engagement. Generally, this position requires three or more years of audit and tax experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepares clear and concise work-papers with definitive conclusions.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills.
  • Prepares meaningful and well written recommendations for inclusion in client correspondence.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify issues and apply accounting principles and auditing procedures.
  • Effectively applies information technology tools in assigned areas.
  • Exhibits the ability to prepare and/or review a complete set of financial statements.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding of tax compliance.
  • Can be relied upon to resolve all open items and issues encountered on assigned engagements.
  • Displays substantial progress towards certification.
  • Works independently and shows initiative.
  • Participates in engagement planning (i.e. budgeting, risk assessment, and strategic development).
  • Identifies and resolves issues outside of the scope of the assignment.
  • Stays current on accounting pronouncements and tax law matters.
  • Adheres to Firm policies and to rules of the AICPA.
  • Research is thorough in supporting resolutions of all issues.
  • Obtained a good understanding of the Firm's full range of client services.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify additional services.
  • Develops positive working relationships with all clients.
  • Addresses client concerns in a timely manner.
  • Quality is consistently demonstrated in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrates effective and appropriate delegation of work to staff.
  • Fosters an environment of teamwork.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
  • Three to five years minimum experience required.
  • CPA license preferred.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Must be able to multi-task and have excellent follow-up abilities.
  • Proven ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to read, speak and write English.

Situational Reasoning - Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.

ADA Compliant

Physical Ability - Tasks involve the ability to travel to meetings outside office, exert moderate physical effort, and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials up to 20 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or repetitive motion.

Sensory Requirements - Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Requires oral communications ability.
