Location: Support Services Center – Facilities Department 1339 N. Lansing Tulsa, OK. 74106
Status: Full Time Non-Exempt
Salary range: $29.00 – $32.00 Pay commensurate with experience
Schedule:
Guaranteed 40 hours a week with occasional opportunities for over time.
May set daily hours, minimal weekends, and no on call.
Preferred schedule 6:00 am – 2:30 pm to perform jobs prior to branches opening
Under the supervision of the System Facilities Manager, the Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) Plumber oversees plumbing aspects of interior/exterior construction and repair of library facilities. The TCCL Plumber ensures cost-efficient maintenance of plumbing systems and equipment, including installation, maintenance, alterations, repairs of all plumbing systems. Will assist as needed other facilities staff with routine maintenance and weather-related issues. This is a safety sensitive position.
A successful plumber will have a thorough knowledge of principles and practices of plumbing repair and construction, ability to monitor plumbing aspects of construction and repair projects and ensure adherence to contract specifications and code requirements. A strong candidate must have experience in specifying, selecting, and purchasing materials, five or more years of plumbing experience and strong communication skills to thrive in the role.

Primary Responsibilities
Maintains all plumbing equipment and systems for TCCL locations, including both interior and exterior of buildings;
Performs all installation of new plumbing systems.
Plans, designs, schedules and purchases materials for interior and exterior plumbing construction/repair projects.
Assists in selection of third-party contractors for major projects to ensure quality of work and monitors contractors’ work to ensure adherence to contract specifications;
Assists with routine maintenance tech responsibilities as needed;
Troubleshoots plumbing service issues at all branches, seeking out solutions to ensure proper branch operation with limited interruption of service;
Assures compliance with City, State and Federal regulations/codes and promotes safe operations of Libraries.
Operates and maintains building life safety programs, to include building fire prevention systems (e.g. standpipes, sprinkler heads, etc.);
Performs routine maintenance duties on public use items such as cleaning and repairing furnishings and equipment when they are soiled;
Purchases approved materials, equipment and supplies;
Participates with other facilities staff as needed for weather related issues, such as snow or ice removal at locations;
Analyzes and identifies ways to be more environmentally considerate through job responsibilities;
Oversees the general maintenance, condition, and cleanliness or the locations served;
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of plumbing repair and construction, including water heaters, sewer, storm drains, irrigation, toilets, faucets, and all other plumbing related equipment;
Skills using a variety of hand and power tools (saws, planes, drills, screw guns, etc.);
Ability to monitor plumbing aspects of construction and repair projects and ensure adherence to contract specifications and code requirements;
Ability to safely use and operate a lift truck and boom lift;
Good communication skills;
Basic computer skills;
High school diploma or GED required;
Additional training at a trade or vocational school required;
Five or more years’ plumbing experience;
Experience in specifying, selecting, and purchasing materials required;
Plumbing contractor’s license required; must pledge license to the library exclusively; (DBA Library)
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and good driving record required;
Lift truck and boom lift certification required (may acquire upon hire).
Ability and desire to obtain 1st Class Stationary Engineer Limited License (3 year program) preferred.
