TITLE: Test Lab Technician

DEPARTMENT: R&D/Product

REPORTS TO: Test Group Supervisor

FLSA: Non-exempt

Position Summary

Conducts, as directed, test and data collection activities of industrial/utility vehicles, related equipment

and component systems. Fabricates prototype components and test fixtures for lab and field testing.

Performs installation and repairs of test equipment and components when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• The Test Group technician performs the following tasks on an as-needed basis;

1. Conduct ongoing testing of Smart Start Products and Firmware and SmarTrac.

2. Conduct release testing for new Firmware releases and new SmarTrac releases.

3. Test individual bug fixes and new features and functions.

4. Conduct functional and certification type testing on an ongoing basis to ensure

compliance and best of class performance of Smart Start products.

5. Reports to Test Group Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

• Knowledge of electrical engineering practices and principles.
• Experience in testing processes, equipment such as a dynamometer, sound meters, strip chart

recorders, multimeters, oscilloscope, and fatigue analysis equipment and test techniques related

to vehicular electrical systems.

• Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
• Detailed working knowledge of SmarTrac and Smart Start product functionality.
• Working knowledge of shop install, service and troubleshooting functions and procedures.
• High School diploma with some college preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Applications.
• Good communications skills.
• Good organizational skills.

REQUIRED TRAITS / SKILLS;

• Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.
• Ability to troubleshoot using common sense approaches and determine root cause using process

of elimination.

• Ability to work closely with R&D and IT as needed to establish test criteria and validate

pass/failure modes.

• Ability to follow complex technical direction and instructions.
• Must submit regular status and error reports tracking status of projects.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical

parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The

noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may

require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
