Digital Innovation & Tools - Additive Manufacturing and Robotics
As an Advanced Manufacturing Lead Engineer at Vestas, you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of wide manufacturing and applied robotics processes and technologies. Leveraging your expertise in a variety of 3D printing systems, robotics, mechatronics, and mechanical design, you will bD e responsible for optimizing production and process efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
Design and optimize advanced manufacturing processes utilizing robotics, and mechatronics to meet production goals and quality standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions for complex manufacturing tasks.
Assist in development and deployment of a variety of additive manufacturing technologies such as SLS, FFF, SLM, DED, SLA/DLP, and more in a wide range of applications for the business.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to evaluate the implementation of new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
Assist in developing the design, development, and integration of automated systems and applied robotics into a variety of manufacturing processes including mechanical assembly, composites, and metal forming processes.
Development of design prototypes and design of experiments for proof-of-concept exercises.
Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize production workflows.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in advanced manufacturing, robotics, and mechatronics to promote continuous improvement and innovation.
Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and engineering drawings, to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in project planning and execution, including resource allocation, timeline management, and budget oversight.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in advanced manufacturing, with a focus on 3D printing systems, robotics, mechatronics, and mechanical design.
Familiarity using standard hand and powered shop tools.
Basic knowledge of use of CNC and manual machining equipment.
Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics troubleshooting.
Knowledge of various metal fabrication techniques such as welding and cold metal forming processes.
Proven history of advanced projects involving the design and implementation of automated manufacturing systems.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Fusion 360, etc.) and simulation tools for mechanical design and analysis.
Proficiency in basic programming using known languages such as Python, C, VB, etc.
Experience or ability to learn and use OLRP systems such as ROS, RoboDK, Robot Studio, etc.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Experience with project management methodologies and tools is a bonus.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to robotics, additive and advanced manufacturing processes, and equipment.
