JOB DESCRIPTION

The Kovitz Core Equity Team utilizes a bottom-up, fundamental, research-driven security selection process and patient decision making to construct a concentrated portfolio of holdings.

The analyst will work with senior investment team members to identify and research investment ideas in publicly listed U.S. companies across all market caps and sectors. You will analyze industries and businesses through in-depth fundamental research and conduct financial analysis and modeling in order to estimate business values. You will build investment cases, draft investment memos, and make recommendations to the team.

The position is a hybrid work model, with offices based in Chicago and Deerfield, IL. Compensation is fixed base discretionary bonus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Entrepreneurial, high-integrity, team-oriented individual with strong oral and written communication skills. Passion for long-term value investing. Experience understanding business fundamentals, analyzing management teams, and identifying value-creative ideas. High degree of curiosity and a track record of successful accomplishments in life. Strong academic background.

1-3 years in buy side or financial institutions a plus or multiple years of analytical and investing experience required.

No specific sector expertise required.

Required to demonstrate ability to:

• Identify key merits and risks with investment ideas and conduct the required research to arrive at portfolio decisions
• interviews with management and industry representatives
• detailed financial analyses and modeling to derive assessments of business values
• communicate conclusions to the team and other stakeholders to build support for investment ideas. Articulate the fundamentals of investment cases.
