U.S. Army Corp of Engineers serves as the civil engineering firm to the U.S. Government, with no requirement to enlist in military service. We are seeking an Environmental Chemist to join our team. This role serves as a specialist in the chemistry of toxic, hazardous and radioactive waste. This role also supports the District's radiological mission and is repsonsible for the radiochemistry aspects of environmental health and safety investigations and studies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Candidates should have a degree in chemistry.
- GS-11 Specialized experience is defined as: 1 year of specialized experience performing investigative work involving conventional methods and techniques; Completing assignments that do not involve radical departures from past practices or require the development of new or innovative approaches, methods or techniques; Taking responsibility for conventional projects where existing guidelines, approaches, and techniques are adequate.
- GS-12 Specialized experience is defined as: 1 year of specialized experience applying scientific expertise and analytical methodologies applicable to the hazardous and toxic waste contamination investigation programs; Providing technical direction, review, support in the areas of chemical, biological, toxic, and hazardous waste site field investigations, studies, and designs; Giving advice on sampling techniques, quality assurance and chemical engineering aspects of hazardous waste on plans, specifications and cleanups.
You must be a U.S. citizen.
This job does not require enlistment and is a civilian role located in the Buffalo, NY office. The position may be eligible for telework, but is not remote.
