The Clarest Health (ProCare LTC) Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is a knowledgeable person who will direct and control the day to day/shift to shift workflow in the pharmacy. The PIC oversees and direct the ProCare staff in compliance with ProCare Policies, Procedures and drives the outcome of the day.
Salary: $60-75/ hour
Summary Of Essential Job Functions
  • Manage the Daily cut off goals and report times: E-RX’s, Order Entry completion, PV1, Facility Calls
  • Supervise and Manage all aspects of the daily process, including: Monitoring the Dashboard, Delegation of daily duties, Reallocate resources (i.e. Staffing levels) as needed throughout the day, Report any and all occurrences to senior management, Report policy and procedure violations to Pharmacy manger, Asses pharmacy errors and ensure they have been reported, Circulate the actual times the front-end target times are completed.
  • Report to Pharmacy manager, Human resources and/or Senior Management perceived or real violations of laws, rules and regulations, ProCare P&P or other issues that arise during shift.
  • Provide excellent service by meeting all operational goals of the pharmacy, daily release times are met and provides timely and accurate service to our customers/patients.
  • Supervise staff compliance and adherence to all established company policies and procedures
  • Work with IV department to provide additional staff as needed.
  • Understand documentation onto ProCare forms: facility correspondence required relating to clarification of orders, and other auditable situations.
  • Work in concert with Back End Manager that ProCare Policies and Procedures are followed and error prevention cautions are known to staff. In the event ProCare P&P’s are broken, violators will be appropriately reported. PIC will re-enforce with the PV2 pharmacists of the hazards and pitfalls related to errors.
  • Supervise Pharmacists to provide for the proper storage of high cost medications, Chemo drugs and controlled substances in the cage in order to prevent loss and meet DOH BNE and DEA regulations respectively.
  • Coordinate with Pharmacy Manager to assess coverage/proper staffing of the pharmacy by licensed pharmacists and front-end staff.
  • Educate as needed in newly arising situation unknown to staff (be a mentor). Alert Pharmacy Manager when the potential for retraining arises. Alert staff regarding differences between Nursing Homes and non-nursing homes and that all phone trees are being managed.
  • Oversee that all pharmacists manage the entry into the pharmacy cage/controlled substance areas pursuant to ProCare policy.
  • Mentor, Train, Advise, and Evaluate staff, help staff to meet their own individual level of performance.
  • Update shift staff with interim information.
  • In concert with Pharmacy Manager and using their collective experiences, review medication errors that have occurred and how they could be prevented.
