It is an exciting time to join Verra! Our organization is growing rapidly. With the rapid growth in carbon markets driving a new wave of project development, Verra is seeking a Program Officer, Natural Climate Solutions (CCB & SD VISta), to grow our Program Management Team. In this role, you will be playing a critical role in conducting reviews of projects submitted through the CCB or SD VISta project cycle. You will also be asked to assist in providing solutions to challenging project situations when they arise. There will also be many opportunities for you to work with and provide support to other teams and departments within Verra
The Role.
  • Reviewing project documents to ensure the quality of VVB performance and integrity of Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) projects requesting validation and verification to the CCB and SD VISta Programs.
  • Collaborating internally with the Auditing and Accreditation Team on project quality and VVB performance and liaising externally with VVBs. This role may also entail periodic onsite audits of VVB site visits.
  • Serving as a subject expert within the Program Management Team on nature-based solutions for CCB and SD VISta programs.
What We’d Like To See.
  • Relevant 1 or 2 years of professional experience, preferably working for a standards organization, NGO, government, project developer, and/or validation/verification body.
  • Technical background and previous experience reviewing or developing nature-based projects, such as REDD , WRC, IFM, ARR, and/or ALM. Understanding of the Climate, Community, and Biodiversity aspects of nature-based projects.
  • Interest in maintaining high-quality projects and auditors through careful review of project requests and documentation.
  • A relevant university degree. A master’s degree would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of climate change mitigation strategies, climate/development finance, and an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities faced by practitioners of these arenas.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including prioritizing and working efficiently and effectively under deadlines.
  • Culturally aware and able to work with stakeholders and partners from different countries and cultures.
  • Self-starter with the ability to excel in a professional, team-oriented environment and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in other languages would be an advantage.

For this position, the salary range is between $57,225 - $63,597 USD. The compensation band is based on a U.S. base salary range and shares the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. This position is eligible for remote work.
The final compensation offered will be contingent upon role, level, and location. Our Talent team can share the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Salary is one component of Verra’s total compensation package, which also includes:
