Georgetown Law's Health Policy and the Law Initiative focuses on the important role that litigation and the courts play in health policy. We serve as a one-stop resource for policymakers and the media on critical health policy legal issues - with an emphasis on access to coverage, affordability, transparency, and equity.
Job Overview
The Director of Initiative is responsible for advancing the mission of the O'Neill Institute , including working with the leadership team on developing and fundraising for projects, developing and managing grants, strategic program planning to advance the scholarly and development goals of the Institute's health law portfolio.
Additionally, they work directly on ongoing and new projects, with responsibilities that include but are not limited to tactical and tailored outreach both internally at Georgetown University and externally with global health and policy experts, as well as expert research and writing on O'Neill Institute projects.
The Director of Initiative, while managing ongoing global health policy projects, provides substantive research and other support as required to satisfy the obligations of the projects.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting to the Faculty Director and the Executive Director of the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, the Director of Initiative interacts daily with the O'Neill Institute's Senior Leadership Team, associates, fellows, and staff, providing guidance and ensuring that departmental efforts support overall organizational goals.
As a supervisor, the Director assists with the selection process of new employees, as well as with performance appraisals.

Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience
  • Substantive analytical skills related to global health policy and governance, specifically NCDs, demonstrated excellence in the health field
  • Exceptional interpersonal and project management skills
  • Ability to convey complex concepts and scholarship to a diverse range of audiences
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional academic, managerial, and public service credentials, including strong knowledge of experience in health law, policy, ethics, and governance
  • Adept at working with faculty, staff, and other officials at the Law Center and the University, including coordination of Institute matters with the branches of the University, and with US and foreign government officials, private foundations, intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, and media
