Assistant Dietary ManagerPosition SummaryAssists the Dietary Manager direct all aspects of the food service/dietary department.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in kitchen, preferably in a hospital, nursing or other related medical facility
- Proven experience managing a budget and controlling food costs
- Ability to lead by example and treat everyone at work kindly and professionally
- Plan, develop, organize, evaluate and direct the Food Services Department reputation, programs and activities
- Hire, train and supervise staff in a kind, collaborative manner
- Partner with Dietician to ensure residents’ diets and nutritional needs are met
- Coordinate food services and activities with other related departments as needed
- Ensure that menus are maintained and filed in accordance with established policies
- Monitor staff to confirm they adhere to all sanitation, safety and procedural guidelines
- Participate in facility’s surveys and inspections, developing a plan of correction if /when deficiencies are noted
- Assist in developing and maintaining written food services policies and procedures
- Inspect special diet trays to confirm patients/residents receiving the correct food
- Ensure all meals are served on time; including snacks
- Ensure food quality and that kitchen areas and equipment are clean and operable
- Manage food storage rooms, utility/janitorial closets for regulatory compliance
- Ensure charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive of meals provided
- Provide reports on department status and/or for dietary programs when requested
