Research Technician II
Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Associate's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two [2] years of full time experience in Biology, Marine Biology, or related field. SCUBA Certified. AAUS Scientific diving certification. Experience operating a small boat. One(1) year of full time experience with organizing and analyzing large data sets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with clams and oysters. SCUBA research experience. Experience using GIS software. Experience synthesizing large data sets into figures and reports. Working knowledge of statistical analyses. Experience with field survey techniques with SCUBA. Experience with marine aquaculture of seaweed and/or shellfish.
Brief Description of Duties:
The position will include extensive field working, including benthic surveys using SCUBA, collection of seaweed and shellfish samples from boats, collection of water samples, and installation of monitoring equipment and aquaculture systems. The hire will also be responsible for processing field samples and conducting a variety of laboratory analyses, and inputting and managing the associated data.
• Benthic field surveys with SCUBA.
• Field sampling (water, shellfish, seaweed).
• Laboratory processing of field samples (bivalve condition and gonad index, dissolved nutrient and chlorophyll samples).
• Data analysis and report writing.
• Data input, organization, and management.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) to be offered for this position is noted below, it represents SBU's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Salary: $38,000 – $47,000
