The Director of Wellness is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with current federal, state and local regulations and in accordance with Primrose Lane established policies and procedures. Maintain quality and consistency of assisted living care and supervise the nursing and unit staff. Perform duties under the direction of the Administrator.
· Maintain a consistent level of professionalism with residents, family members and staff.
· Enforce compliance with all Administrative and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
· Supervise all nursing personnel on a routine basis.
· Make accurate decisions and take appropriate actions, especially with regard to changes in resident status
· Complete & implement Service Care Plans and keep them updated as needed
· Update CNA assignments as necessary.
· Set up and conduct care conferences with residents and families as needed.
· Monitor residents’ medical records for accuracy and compliance with State regulations.
· Review medication sheets and MD order sheets monthly and as needed.
· Complete 90 day assessments according to Department of Health Regulation
· Chart appropriately on residents in the nurse’s notes as needed
· Monitor Incident Reports and notify the families and MD of an incident.
· Administer medication when needed.
· Complete pre-admission assessment as required by RIDOH.
· Follow up on any recommendations by the physician and consultants.
· Work within budgetary guidelines for the nursing department including but not limited to supplies and nursing salaries/ hours/ wages.
· Recruit, interview, and select Nursing Department personnel
· Determine departmental staffing requirements as necessary to meet the Nursing Departments needs. Assign a sufficient number of nursing personnel hours for each day.
· Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc.
· Assure that personnel are performing required duties and appropriate nursing procedures are being followed.
· Develop an participate in the planning, conducting, scheduling, etc., of in-service, training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs for nursing personnel.
· Participate in programs of continuing education (seminars, training programs, etc.)
· Assure that all nursing personnel attend required training programs as established by Health Department regulations.
· RN graduate from an accredited registered nursing program.
· Hold a current RI RN license
Minimum of one year experience in a clinical hospital setting, skilled nursing rehab facility or home health care agency.
