Proliance Consulting is Hiring a Change Manager Near SeaTac, WA

Job Summary: The Change Manager as part of a new centralized team providing change management to strategic projects across the company, supporting a variety of projects that range in scope, approach, and complexity. This team is part of a multi-year roadmap to establish and develop change management expertise and capabilities across the enterprise.

Length: Through EOY with a strong potential to extend

Location: 3 days/week onsite - SeaTac

Associate Vendors: We are accepting applications from candidates who are currently authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Change Manager (CM) supporting one or more projects; this is an active 'doer' role not simply an advisor
  • Will be part of a small team of CMs supporting strategic projects across Alaska Airlines
  • In some cases will be dedicated to a large project full-time, and in others will support a small number of medium sized projects; as one project ramps down, would be assigned to new work throughout the year
  • CMs will support each other during ebbs and flows in projects, enabling optimal support of the work and the opportunity to experience other areas of the company
  • Will also support company-wide educational outreach for change management, such as facilitating classes or providing consultation on small projects needing change management assistance
  • Follow the Alaska change management methodology and produce standard change management deliverables such as change-related assessments, plans, and report-outs, design multiple ways to engage with audiences, and ensure solid feedback loops and metrics to gauge efficacy
  • Create a cohesive change management approach (high level) and plan (detailed) for assigned project(s) that meets the needs of differing stakeholder groups
  • Pull together disparate pieces of a project into a cohesive change approach
  • As applicable to the project, review relevant existing materials to determine current state and/or what can be leveraged, work with internal resources to identify lessons learned from similar projects, and incorporate into the change plans
  • Work in partnership with project manager, sponsor, business owners, subject matter experts, and other project team members, often including from software development and other technology teams
  • Collaborate closely with internal Communications, Policy & Procedure, and Training teams
  • As applicable to the project, create communication and/or learning materials of moderate complexity, which may be to produce polished draft content for others to finalize, format, and/or disseminate
  • Hybrid remote and on-site in SeaTac, WA
  • Need to be in the office for in-person work typically ~3 days per week, however it is a flexible schedule based on the days it makes sense to be on-site
  • Fully remote or commuting from a long distance outside the greater Seattle area is not an option
  • Travel is not anticipated for most projects; if it were needed for a project, it would be discussed and mutually agreed in advance
  • Will attend recurring change management team meetings and occasional division (SAT) meetings; note as a contractor cannot attend employee-only events, however contractors are welcome to participate in volunteer events and many company-wide events
  • Will regularly keep the S&PI change management manager apprised of progress, roadblocks, help needed, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading/delivering change in a full-time role as a Change Manager
  • Experience managing all change-related workstreams (leadership alignment, stakeholder engagement, communication, learning and readiness/evaluation, etc.)
  • Excellent demonstrated skills in all facets of change management including assessment, planning, design, execution, sustainment, and nurturing influencers to lead change within their organizations
  • Excited to work in an environment where change management is newer to the company and is in the process of being established
  • Wants to be part of sharing the value of change management and what it can do for them, their team, their project, and our company
  • Enjoys being an champion for change management, while at the same time recognizes and respects that not everyone is as excited as they are (at least not yet!)
  • Wants to be part of a small team of change managers, while also being comfortable being the only change manager working on a given project
  • Wants to learn about and be part of Alaska Airlines, its culture, and its people; be and active part of the team, not just coming along for the ride
  • Excited to work with a company with 23,000 employees that sometimes operates more like a small company, including less hierarchy and formalized rigor
  • Comfortable with an environment which can at times be relatively unstructured and fluid
  • Loves to learn
  • Strong skills in delivering learning in in-person and virtual formats
  • Advanced skills in absorbing new information, identifying connections between disconnected elements, and separating needs vs. wants
  • Able to quickly learn specialized jargon, acronyms, and complex processes
  • Able to balance competing priorities and help the team to do the same
  • Able to build strong relationships in a relationship-oriented organization where many people have long tenures and variable degrees of experience
  • Able to partner effectively with those who have an execution-oriented lens and may overlook the human element
  • Able to balance change management tasks with relationship building to propel the work forward
  • Able to successfully work with people at all levels of the company and work on a team with union-represented employees, non-union employees, other contractors, and outside vendors
  • Able to create change management-related materials of moderate complexity with professional polish suitable for internal use, utilizing PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other standard software tools
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and able to proactively lead themselves and the team through ambiguity out the other side to concrete decisions and actions

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years recent experience with corporations (as opposed to non-profit, NGO, government, or academia)
  • Experience with aviation
  • Experience with the travel industry
  • Experience working with labor relations, employees who are union-represented, or union reps
  • Experience with complex, multi-phase transformations involving moving from paper-based processes or desktops, to digital processes, tools, and mobile technologies
  • Experience introducing change management to an organization
  • Expert skills in leading stakeholders with competing interests to come to recognize common interests, compromise, and reach consensus
  • Expert skills in leading stakeholders to see their business from a fresh perspective, in the context of transformational change
  • Process experience including assessment, analysis, mapping, design, redesign, and teaching business owners and SMEs how to truly see their process (and waste)
  • For some potential projects:
  • Experience with aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, or engineering, or a similarly exacting maintenance or engineering environment
