ABOUT US: The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, programs, events, parks and open spaces.

JOB SUMMARY: The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of seniors from various park district locations to predetermined day trip locations. while maintaining the safety and security of park district vehicles. Drivers must maintain order of passengers to ensure their safety in accordance with the Driver Policy Guidelines. Drivers must report delays, accidents, traffic situations, traffic violations and behavioral concerns by passengers to the Supervisor. Bus Drivers are responsible for fueling the bus/van prior to leaving the garage and cleaning bus/van after each use. Responsibilities also include checking conditions of bus per bus vehicle check list. Must be able to read and understand map(s) and route instructions. Drivers must examine the vehicle after last passenger has exited to check for any maintenance items and to ensure all passengers have left the bus. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Candidates must have a current CDL, Class “B” with passenger and air brake endorsement and also have a valid “DOT” medical card. The best applicants will be dependable, flexible and appreciate the diversity of adults and seniors. Strong communication skills are important to effectively interact with adults, seniors, and persons with disabilities. Must have sufficient dexterity to operate wheel chair lift. Drivers may be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Must pass Schaumburg Park District’s background check.

SCHEDULING & PAY: These are Monday through Friday positions averaging 10-20 hours a week. Drivers are to be available for various day trips and the occasional overnight trip throughout year. Starting pay is $24.00 / hour. Drivers will have the opportunity for extra shifts for special events throughout the year and the opportunity to work during the summer.
