IAT Insurance Group is Hiring a Property Litigation Senior Claims Specialist Near Sarasota, FL

IAT Insurance Group has an immediate opening for a Property Litigation Senior Claims Specialist that can report to any IAT location.
The role will support the Property Claims Department and its SVP, Property and Inland Marine Claims in the handling of litigation against the company arising from first-party property claims.Specifically, this role is a complex claims and litigation handling role that is tasked with managing litigation that has significant financial exposure under our commercial and homeowner's property policies.The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced claims professional with a Juris Doctorate degree and extensive experience handling first-party property claims and litigation on a nation-wide basis.
This role works a hybrid schedule which reflects our values (thinking and acting like an owner, collaboration, and teamwork) as it requires working from the office with colleagues and other disciplines Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.
Responsibilities:
  • Works with Claims Legal and Property Claims to develop litigation/file disposition strategy.
  • Handle claims and litigation in compliance with Claims Best Practices to ensure claim handling discipline and superior Quality Review and Audit scores, including timely coverage reviews and coverage correspondence.
  • Within authority limit, supervise the retention and management of, as well as payments to, outside counsel, actively utilizing litigation management plans and budgets.
  • Directs and manages assigned caseload of litigated files involving property claim disputes, extra-contractual claims, and declaratory judgment actions.
  • Manages and controls reserves, and expenses associated with assigned caseload in compliance with company guidelines.
  • Manage claims systems and data for accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Negotiates and authorizes appropriate settlements within designated authority.
  • Attends mediations, settlement conferences, court hearings and trials.
  • Maintains resident/nonresident adjuster licenses as required.
  • As one of the most senior handler roles, this person will assist claims leadership by identifying trends, providing training and the continued development of the discipline on technical matters.
  • Performs other legal and litigation duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must-Have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 8 years of relevant claims and/or legal experience, which focused on first-party property claims with an exposure of $250,000 or more including both primary and excess losses.
  • Must have insurance litigation experience in connection with first-party property claims.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel is required.
  • To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
Preferred to Have:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • State Bar License that is in good standing
  • Corporate Representative deposition experience

Compensation:
Please note, that the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $68,345 - $108,280.This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position.The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit-sharing opportunities, and more.Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role.
