Our long-term client, owners of Bien Nacido Vineyards, Solomon Hills Vineyards and Carlyle Farming (Rancho Sierra Vista) are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Agriculture Operations to join their team, replacing an individual who was in the role for 25 years. This is a rare opportunity to care for and represent the “most vineyard-designated vineyard in the world”. Winemakers proudly call out Bien Nacido on their labels more than any other vineyard. A well known and well-regarded gem, where many of the most prestigious wineries have purchased fruit over the decades.

You will be responsible for vineyard management, overseeing cultivation, planting and harvesting, managing organic certification standards of pesticides and herbicides. You will enjoy collaborating with the Director of Winemaking and making recommendations related to vineyard and fruit quality, while maintaining equipment tracking and future business needs. You will lead all aspects of leasing agricultural land for the avocado and lemon operations at Rancho Sierra Vista while managing teams at Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills. As a member of the community, you will identify and pursue new opportunities for expansion of the portfolio of leased land and tenants. As an integral member of the leadership team you will manage the P&L, provide and perform weekly and quarterly updates, and annual department planning while ensuring the completion of targeted goals. This is a highly visible role within the organization and within the wine industry.

Our ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in agronomy, plant science, viticulture, agribusiness, or similar. As a leader with at least 8 years of prior experience in a similar role within the wine industry, you will have a strong understanding of premium winemaking standards and enjoy providing exceptional customer service.
