Athletic Edge Learning Center is Hiring a Preschool Teacher / Teacher Aide Near Salem, OR

The Athletic Edge Learning Center is a private, inclusive preschool with a focus on social-emotional learning and preparing children for the academics that lay ahead in kindergarten. Located in Salem, Oregon, we serve children ages 3 years through entering kindergarten. Our program operates year-round with preschool running September through May and summer camps during the summer months.

We are looking to add a teacher or aide to our team who is dependable and has a passion for teaching & creating a positive, safe and encouraging atmosphere for all children. We are hiring for both part-time and full-time positions.

Qualifications:

We are hiring for both Aide and Teacher Qualified positions.

ALL positions must meet the following state requirements by start date:

  • At least 18 years in age
  • Infant, Child & Adult First Aid and CPR certification
  • Food Handler certification
  • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry
  • RRCAN (Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect) Training
  • ICCHS (Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety) Training
  • PBTT (Prevention is Better Than Treatment) Training
  • FFL (Foundations For Learning) Training

Teacher Qualified positions must also meet specific qualifications through ONE of the follow ways:

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Documentation of obtaining at least Step 6 in the Oregon Registry
  • At least one year of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a Certified Child Care Center in the care of preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring children during indoor/outdoor activities to ensure the health, safety & well-being of all students at all times
  • Developing and implementing new imaginative and developmentally appropriate daily, weekly & monthly lesson plans
  • Reviewing the progress of each child and developing written plans to promote each child’s growth and development
  • Maintaining a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive and safe learning environment
  • Developing a positive relationship with each child and promoting the development of self-esteem and self-discipline
  • Establishing a positive relationship with each child’s family and sharing information about the child’s day
  • Participating in all staff meetings, school activities, and professional development
  • Demonstrating verbally and by role-modeling a sound knowledge of good teaching practices and of child growth and development
  • Tending to the physical care, safety and well-being of all the children in the program
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate high personal integrity
  • Self-motivated and self-sufficient
  • Sensitive to individual and group needs of children & other team members
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate guidance
  • Ability to communicate with parents in a respectful, compassionate, joyful and effective manner
  • Ability to multitask, think on your feet and shift plans to meet the needs of the children
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50lbs, stand for long periods of time, move up and down from the floor level to be at the same level as children, fine motor ability to manipulate small objects like children’s scissors, small crayons etc.
  • Team-player who can also work independently
  • Efficient; Ability to maximize use of time
  • Minimum 12 month commitment to position -

Schedule:

Monday - Friday

Times vary depending on part/full time - opening shift starts at 7:00 am; closing shift ends at 4:30 pm

Position begins as early as Monday, April 15th and as late as Wednesday, May 29th

Pay & Benefits:

$15.75 - 17.75 / hour
