ResponsibilitiesShift: 6:45pm - 7:15am
Job Summary:Primary function of position provides ongoing observation either through in person or through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factor and high risk patient fall risk.
Essential Duties Include the Following:Sitter Duties:
- Must maintain visible contact with the patient at all times
- Promptly communicates all patient requests to assigned staff
- Documents utensils into and out of patient room
- Observes the client for general physical, emotional, and mental conditions and reports all changes in condition
- Maintains a clean and safe environment.
- Provide diversional activities as designated by an assigned staff
- Provides ongoing observation through Camera/Monitor technology of patients on suicide prevention watch as a result of identified risk factors and high risk fall risk patients.
- Ensures pertinent patient data is brought to the attention of appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Notifies the appropriate staff nurse immediately if a change in patient activity occurs.
- Receives report for the Sitter/Monitor staff on the previous shift and gives an accurate report to the oncoming Sitter/Monitor.
- Identifies and immediately reacts appropriately to all life-threatening patient actions.
- Observes and records all patient activity every 15 minutes.
- Communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public and peers.
- Organizational skills.
- Remote monitor training can begin upon successful completion of sitter role competency.
