JOB DESCRIPTION

PROGRAM: Dental ClinicTITLE: Dental HygienistPOSITION: Full- or Part-Time

BASIC FUNCTION:Under the Doctor's supervision, responsible for providing preventative care, oral hygiene care, and appropriate x-rays for all special needs (DD/ID) individuals served.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Patient Care: Ensure patient safety, comfort, and understanding of treatment. Review patient medical history, update paperwork, and complete treatment documentation.

2. Preventative Care: Provide preventative care, oral hygiene instructions, and perform necessary x-rays for special needs individuals under the Doctor's supervision.

3. Confidentiality: Maintain a clear understanding and practice of confidentiality under HIPAA regulations. Update and obtain patient medical information as necessary.

4. Professional Development: Remain current with all education required by the State of Illinois for license renewal.

5. Advocacy: In compliance with Milestone, Inc. philosophy and policies toward Human Rights, intervene immediately on behalf of individuals served and report to the appropriate agencies or Supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oral Hygiene Instruction: Provide oral hygiene instruction for all hygiene patients.

2. Operatory Maintenance: Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain own operatory, equipment, and instruments daily under the direction of the Head Dental Assistant and Doctor.

3. Flexibility: Patient schedule may change daily; provide care at the discretion of the Doctor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Mobility permitting maximum movement within a confined space.
• Licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of Illinois.
• Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
