Position Overview
Davey Resource Group, Inc. is actively seeking a self-motivated, organized, and dedicated individual to join our team as an Environmental Scientist with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS), tree identification, and applied stream and wetland science. The selected candidate will be working out of our Raleigh, North Carolina office, providing support for our Ecological Restoration and Urban Forestry teams.
Job Duties
Primary work duties of this position will include wetland delineations, tree inventories, map development using ESRI ArcPro software, compiling and integrating field data into map deliverables, stream and wetland mitigation site assessments, monitoring and technical report writing. Proficiency with ArcPro software, knowledge of native southeastern tree species, and wetland delineation experience is preferred.
Qualifications
•Respondents should have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Sciences or a related field.
•Additional coursework in dendrology, soil science, wetlands, and GIS is strongly desired.
•2 or more years of experience in performing GIS focused work is preferred. Ideally, the candidate will also have experience in environmental consulting applications.
•Candidates should possess skills in using office software (Microsoft Word/Excel/Google Docs etc.), multi-tasking and working cooperatively in a team environment.
•Candidates should also be comfortable with working outside (primarily woods) and in difficult (e.g. hot or remote) field conditions.
•Experience with GPS equipment and ArcGIS is preferred.
•Driver's license and clean driving record are required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a full-time position with an anticipated 40 Hours per week and the opportunity for overtime (to be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate). Compensation will be dependent upon the experience of the selected individual.
