Project Engineer

Under general direction, prepare customer approval calculations, engineer specific written instruction and drafting procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare complete and precise calculations for steel bridge structures and components
• Utilize knowledge of construction and engineering practices, mathematics, building materials and other physical sciences to complete calculation packages. Calculations may be developed in US Customary, Metric, or a combination of both
• Prepare bills of material from drawings created
• Review work product for completeness and accuracy
• Understand and adhere to all Acrow’s policies and applicable laws
• Travel to other Acrow Locations or Customer Sites as necessary
• Perform other duties as required

Skills and Knowledge:

• Strong work ethic with ability to adapt to quickly changing business environment
• Ability to write, analyze and interpret technical data inclusive of drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
• Ability to use AutoCAD LT or Mechanical CAD ver. 2018 or higher software
• Knowledge of AASHTO and AISC Codes
• Practical knowledge and application of engineering formulas in relation to the relevant codes in the design of structural steel members and connections
• Understanding of standard drafting terminology, abbreviations, symbols, dimensioning techniques, and procedures
• Ability to design steel components following relevant codes
• Able to work with a diverse group of people
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering and 4-6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

• Design experience related to structural systems in bridges, steel buildings or industrial construction
• Autodesk AutoCAD or Inventor experience
• Engineering in Training Certificate or Professional Licensure in one of more States

Working Conditions:

• Work is typically performed in an office environment which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes, or equipment.
