Job Title: Traffic Coordinator

The Traffic Coordinator manages the flow of materials by ensuring timely pick-ups and delivering material to customers in the most efficient and cost-effective manner, acting as the liaison with all parties to ensure a smooth and complete transaction.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Traffic Coordinator produces accurate shipping documentation and oversees all aspects of the shipment. This person will, over time, gain knowledge and expertise with each customer’s requirements to implement changes to streamline the process.

This person will report directly to the Senior Logistics Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Proactively manages all aspects of export shipments.
• Receive, track, dispatch, and fulfill customer POs and bookings.
• Create, send, receive, track, and fulfill supplier POs and bookings.
• Works with truckers and suppliers to execute bookings.
• Proactively navigate any/all available port and SSL websites to obtain and provide the best information possible to all parties.
• Executes required export documentation for multiple accounts in various stages of completion in a highly time-sensitive environment.
• Timely management of multiple lines of communication between suppliers, shippers, customers, and internal parties, maintaining details and relaying pertinent information to appropriate parties
• Request, receive, and upload loading pictures into database.
• Initiates timely invoicing and works closely with the accounting department to ensure billing accuracy.
• As needed, assist the accounting department in solving / settling adjustments and receive missing invoices from customers.
• Identifies risks and opportunities when developing logistics plans and freight estimates for export containers and domestic trailer shipments.
• On demand, secure new/updated freight rates for domestic or export moves.
• As needed, work to settle light weight and short weight claims with supplier / customer.
• Processes freight claims and customer complaints.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-5 years of experience in logistics, trucking, and/or ocean freight experience.
• Detail-oriented.
• Ability to critically think through multiple-step processes and follow up on several details.
• High ability to handle multiple priorities without losing details.
• Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills.
• Strong Excel skills and some freight software knowledge.
• Self-motivated and ownership of the position.
• Ability to work under time pressures.
• Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• 2-year or 4-year degree or equivalent (preferred)
