Position: Desktop Engineer

Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Desktop Engineer to maintain and improve desktop infrastructure, primarily focusing on patching cycles for Windows, MacOS, and iOS devices. The Desktop Engineer will manage and deploy corporate Mac OS images and software packages, ensuring desktop security and functionality. The Desktop Engineer will also act as an escalation point for Mac users, assess new technologies, and collaborate across teams to uphold security standards and alignment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

• Develop, maintain, and deploy Mac OS images and software packages for corporate Mac laptop and desktop clients, ensuring enterprise readiness and security.
• Administer Workspace One, creating application packages for organization-wide deployment.
• Act as the primary escalation point for Mac user-related issues, delivering timely resolution and support.
• Evaluate and test new Mac OS and Hardware, and design future solutions for Mac configuration deployment.
• Create and update technical knowledge base documents, including security updates and service packs.
• Test, install, and update Windows and MacOS operating systems and proprietary applications, including security patches and system security tools.
• Design and construct Windows images for Dell Laptops, manage Windows patching and security, and oversee automated imaging solutions.
• Collaborate with the Security Team to identify and mitigate risks to the desktop fleet, ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Develop and maintain metrics and reporting on device inventory, health, and compliance status.
• Provide remote support to employees across the US using ITSM solutions such as Jira.
• Possess understanding of Okta Identity Provider (IDP) and experience with identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Office365 products and services, with hands-on experience supporting Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive.

Qualifications:

• 1-2 years of experience in desktop engineering or a related field.
• Ability to test, install, and update Windows and macOS operating systems, along with proprietary applications, security patches, updates, and system security tools.
• Strong communication and documentation skills to effectively interact with team members and document processes.
• Solid understanding of Okta Identity Provider (IDP) solutions, particularly in the context of onboarding applications and related tasks.
• Deep understanding of Office 365, including SharePoint Online, with the ability to create queries and analyze message traces.
• Familiarity with imaging and packaging processes, including the ability to create technology-based documents, will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in scripting languages would be beneficial, especially for tasks related to automation and imaging is a plus.
