Farm Credit Services of America is Hiring a Relationship Officer Near Oskaloosa, IA

Job Summary

Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) is seeking a Relationship Officer. In this role, you will be tasked with focusing on accounts in high risk/classified volume capacity viewed to be viable and able to return to successful status within a designated portfolio across multiple offices. You will serve as a key influencer in helping customers return to a viable financial position working directly and indirectly with local teams through restructuring, borrower counseling, creative credit packages and resolution of distressed accounts if needed. Minimize reputation risk by providing positive exit solutions for customers who are not willing and/or able to make adjustments. Provide counseling to Credit Analysts and retail Financial Officers on loan structure, terms and conditions, pricing, and documentation for loans with significant credit weakness. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary contact and specialized resource focused on high risk/classified volume not assigned to the Credit and Resolutions Team (CART) exhibiting a strong level of patience and creativity to arrive at viable solutions. Creates thorough understanding and acceptance of defined weakness in the operation through financial analysis, operation review and one on one customer visits. Work directly with the customer and Credit Analyst team to formulate and implement actionable steps that will have positive financial impacts for both the customer and the Association. This includes establishing and maintaining sound credit and loan administration, loan pricing, and establishing appropriate loan terms and conditions for the purpose of managing the loan risks for a variety of loans to include large and complex accounts. Generally, will serve as the primary customer contact for viable higher risk accounts. When appropriate, will participate in joint calls with Financial Officers to deliver coaching and counseling to viable higher risk accounts; and to assess if the account will be serviced by the Financial Officer or Relationship Officer.
  • Manage assigned portfolio across multiple offices in accordance with Associations’ and funding banks’ policies and procedures resulting in the greatest net return/best business decision. Work towards designated account retention and returning accounts to viable account status levels. Primary responsibility is prevention of loans entering special classification and reduction of non-earning assets through restructuring, borrower counseling and/or collection and resolution of distressed. Analyze customer financial statements, including balance sheets, trend analysis, income statements, cash flows, collateral analysis, and performance reconciliation. Will complete significant post loan renewal follow-up with customers to determine progress and reinforce customer accountability related to loan terms, conditions, and previously agreed upon adjustments to the operation. Also, based on current circumstances, will discuss potential changes to loan terms, conditions and agreements.
  • Identify accounts within the portfolio that need to be exited to minimize Association risk by transferring to CART.
  • Serve as primary compliance officer on assigned loans and ensure the Associations’ are within compliance of settlement laws and procedures. Contribute to the achievement of satisfactory Association credit administration and credit quality goals in assigned portfolio through building consensus of involved parties.
  • Monitor loan performance on assigned portfolio, including completion, monitoring, and performance of Loan Servicing Plans. Review and monitor performance of Loan Servicing Plans completed by Financial Officers as time allows. Provide regular and ongoing updates with Regional Leadership and Credit Teams relative to customer and portfolio progress

Travel Time

  • Percentage of time required to travel during the day - 60%
  • Percentage of time required to travel overnight - 40`%


Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree Preferred in Business, Finance and/or Economics

Years of Experience

  • 6 years of experience in Lending/credit analysis experience, to include experience in the full economic cycle of agriculture, with the Farm Credit System or a related agricultural credit organization

Certification and Technical Requirements

  • Completion of or the ability to complete within 60 – 90 days Borrower’s Rights Training, Lenders Liability Training, Criminal Referrals Training and Credit Training
  • Knowledge of and ability to use applicable computer systems and databases (i.e. Agrilytic, SI, Collateral Hub, visual valuation, etc.)
