Washington Hospitality Association Paymaster, Inc is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Olympia, WA

Position Description: The Staff Accountant supports the Association, IO Department and the CFO by ensuring financial compliance with accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly accounting reports, payroll processing and recording, and properly followed processes. The Staff Accountant leads all period end close efforts, including balance sheet account maintenance and reconciliation, for the Association and its related entities. This position is the backup to the Sr. Accounting Manager and can assume all duties when required and works with AR and AP to ensure quality financial information.

Essential duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Primary

  • Produce monthly and quarterly financials for the Association and its related entities that meet the agreed upon deadlines.
  • Responsible for end of month closing processes including journal entries, all bank accounts and other assigned intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ensures all reconciliations are complete, accurate and on time as agreed.
  • Execute bimonthly payroll processing including necessary journal entries and cost center maintenance.
  • Support and back up the Sr. Accounting Manager by executing duties as needed.
  • Responsible for the asset tracking of all entities and ensuring the depreciation system is current.
  • Execute assigned annual governmental reporting compliance as required including OIC, 5500 and necessary charities.
  • Prepare year end mileage reports and Choice Time audits.
  • Ensure production and distribution of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and packages for assigned programs and departments.
  • Financial presentations to boards/committees as needed.
  • Demonstrate the Association core values at all times.

Accounting Support

  • Assist in IO budgeting process.
  • Assist with Positive Pay.
  • Assist with other accounting processes as needed, including billing, invoicing, deposits, auditing and K1 production.
  • Support Retro distribution.

Department and Other Support

  • Provide new staff training for payroll and timekeeping.
  • Develop or update the SOP for the position and cross train as needed to ensure continuum for the position.
  • Active participation in all-team meetings and activities.
  • Provide collaboration for other Association teams as needed.
  • Attend progress report and department meetings as required.
  • Complete department progress reports and keep Outlook calendar up to date. In-house committee participation as needed.
  • Answer Association phone following guidelines.
