Utilities Engineer
Department: Utilities Admin. Reports to: Asst. Director Utilities
Summary: Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Utilities / Field Operations; manage the Utilities Engineering Division. Division shall be responsible for the development, implementation and successful completion of projects within the Utilities Department including Capital Improvement Projects (CIP); water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection, reuse system, Utilities GIS, I&C/SCADA, and data management/project management/asset management and work order processing software systems. Project/ Design Engineer performs complex office and field related engineering work in connections with the planning, design, and construction Capital Improvements, water distribution and sewer collection lines, and other Utilities works projects, developed both in house and as outsourced consultant services. Undertakes the administration of the City's Water and Wastewater ordinance. Reviews Utilities permits and subdivision improvement plans for compliance with Utilities construction standards and City ordinances. Estimates quantities and costs of such projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field, OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Training and experience in Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD/MicroStation) and familiarity with Geographical Information Systems (ESRI) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
License and certification requirements: A valid Texas State Driver's License with a good driving record required. Engineer in Training in the State of Texas or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in a standard office environment. Must be able to bend or stoop to retrieve files. Must be able to lift books, files or other materials weighing 10-15lbs.
