We are seeking a qualified **Inventory Forester** to work with our Forestry Division based in Mt Vernon, WA. The successful candidates should have working knowledge of forest inventory methods and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) experience.
**About The Position**
Maintain and update GIS files, data, and software; implement best practices for data management, structure, and workflows
Develop GIS tools and products for use by other district personnel
Maintain and update forest inventory data
Manage annual inventory data collection
Train and check cruise seasonal inventory foresters and contract cruisers
Annual timber harvest depletions and reporting
Provide GIS training and support to other district personnel
As needed, support acquisitions and other special projects
Assist with work on district programs, including silviculture and harvest permitting
**Qualifications**
Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, GIS, or related field preferred
2 to 3 years in operational forest management preferred
Working knowledge of forest inventory methods and software including SuperACE and FLIPS; Experience with other PNW growth and yield models a plus
Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems, preferably ESRI suite. Experience with Lidar data preferred. Python, R, or SQL experience a plus
Timber cruising experience and familiarity with PNW species
Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills with superior attention to detail
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Positive attitude, self-motivated, ability to work as a team member in a crew environment
