Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Construction and Maintenance Unit)
Status: Full-time Professional
Annual Salary Range: $84,636 - $152,566
- Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and implement technologies to streamline fleet maintenance of BPMI equipment and promote the design for maintainability paradigm.
- Formulate and execute strategies to transition the NNPP to a condition-informed maintenance approach.
- Develop BPMI strategies to enable timely execution of emergent electrical and mechanical repairs.
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase shipyard flexibility toward hardware maintenance and upgrades to enable completion of field changes within 1-year availabilities.
- Investigate the causes of regular hardware failures in the existing fleet and develop a strategy and/or technical solution to prevent or mitigate the impact of recurrence.
- Build connections and relationships across the Program, industry, and external partners to champion innovative solutions and programs that support improvement strategies in the areas of Construction and Maintenance.
- Duties will include the following: formulating chartering actions and program plans, obtaining stakeholder buy-in and NAVSEA approval of these plans; collaborating with equipment departments and shipyards to contract for development and implementation of construction and maintenance technologies and strategies; surveying industry and identifying new vendors/partners to accelerate the transition to a condition informed maintenance approach.

- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum (4) years of relevant experience.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
- Experience leading multi-disciplined technical and project teams across multiple organizations.
- Experience with supplier management and contract execution.
- General knowledge of fleet maintenance work.
- Broad knowledge of BPMI components.
- Experience in developing and tracking high level project plans.
- Experience with briefing executive level stakeholders within and outside BPMI.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Office, SharePoint.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Project, or other project management software.
