Process Engineer
Role Summary
The Process Engineer (PE) keeps the facility running smoothly by developing and driving the implementation of the design of our manufacturing facility’s processes. Reporting to the Vice President, Print Card Operations, the PE will work closely with Production Managers and the facility leadership team to determine existing processes, identifying an appropriate optimization strategy, and subsequently collaborating with leadership to implement adjustments accordingly. The PE is also responsible for performing risk assessments to proactively identify potential issues and drive Continuous Improvement efforts.
Process Engineers work closely with the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) team to review safety and quality standards, ensuring the facility properly meets these guidelines. They’ll use these guidelines to design and test their own process upgrades and new systems to see if they meet quality standards and regulations. The Process Engineer handles modeling and promoting the company culture and our values.
Key Result Areas
Developing, optimizing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, quality and safety.
Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending proper solutions.
Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce costs, minimize waste and increase efficiency.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of new processes, technologies and equipment.
Collaborate with engineering, production and quality assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Monitoring and analyzing process data, identifying trends and proposing solutions for process improvement continuously.
Performing process capability studies, statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making to achieve operational excellence and meet production targets.
Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements in all process engineering activities.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Lead process validation activities, including protocol development, execution and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Participate in cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures.
Provide training and guidance to production teams on new processes, procedures and equipment to ensure successful implementation and operation.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, industrial or similar) or equal experience.
5 years of experience as a process engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and statistical analysis.
Proficient in process analysis, process modelling, statistical analysis and simulation software.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.
Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred skills and qualifications
Experience with process improvement tools and methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
Experience Building, Enhancing and Managing Quality Assurance Systems.
Additional Skills (Preferred, not Required)
Master’s degree in process engineering or a related field.
Professional certification in process engineering or related areas.
Experience with process automation and control systems.
Knowledge of automation and control systems, such as SCADA and PLC.
Knowledge of process simulation software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO standards.
