We are seeking a Collections Specialist.
The qualified candidate must:
Have ability to multitask and work under pressure
Be very detail oriented
Have critical thinking skills
Knowledge and experience in handling bankruptcies, deceased and restraining notices
Experience in training staff
Responsibilities:
Extensive experience in consumer collections ability to work through a large volume of accounts
Effectively works on charge off projections to secure payment to avoid potential charge off
Assigns collection queue to staff as a back-up
Assists members with collection problems, payment issues and works with members in creating payment solutions and extensions
Answers phone, email, and mail requests from members
Monitors 1st missed payment report
Monitors return check report. Assists members with payroll, credit card payments, and processing issues
Manages repossessions and remarketing auction arrangements
Handle process for secured loans (letters and pay-down)
Trained on how process credit card payments via on-line gateway portal
Trained to process adjustments to members credit card accounts via a separate software program
Handles title and lien issues (manages the weekly unperfected lien report)
Handles adhoc projects for the AVP of Collections
Trained to assist with negative accounts when back-up support is required
Trained to post payments, handle deceased accounts, daily death notices, daily calendar items, process 17 day loan report, process restraints.
Trained to assign accounts out to agencies and legal with complete referral sheets when back-up support is required
Counsels and works with members to get on payment plans and ensures the internal payment plan log is monitored and up to date
Process loan extensions
Monitors payment plan log to ensure in house payment arrangements are received
Maintains accurate records and documentation for collection activities
Essential Qualifications:
Knowledge of credit union/banking collection procedures and policies
Knowledge governmental regulations and restrictions for collections processes
Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations and procedures
Proficient in Excel and Word
Demonstrated skill handling sensitive information and situations
Demonstrated skill in member/customer service
Skill with independent problem-solving
Intermediate mathematical skills
Ability to communicate successfully with members and outside parties
Ability to express oneself clearly and articulately both orally and in writing
Ability to handle multiple deadlines
Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
Ability to work with general supervision of daily activities
