What do I need as a Med-Tech with Messiah Lifeways?

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion and certification in the Department of Human Services Medication Administration Course
• Appropriate Documentation
  - Summary and qualification form
  - Review of non-oral medication documentation
  - Observation documentation (at least 6 months worth if coming from another
  community)
• Formal nursing assistant and med tech training

What will I do as a Med-Tech with Messiah Lifeways?

• Perform all the skills and duties of a Nursing Assistant
• Assist with treatments and therapies under the direction of licensed personnel and according to departmental policy
• Assist residents with medications per physician's orders
• Take reasonable measures to ensure that residents take their medications
• Document all medications administered to residents on their EMAR
• Communicate medication errors and/or refusal of medication to nursing as soon as possible, in order for the nurse to follow protocol
• Utilize Messiah Lifeways' licensed personnel (nurse) for medical questions, and for assessing residents following a fall
• Keep the work area neat and clean ensuring the confidentiality of resident records
• Participate in updating resident RASPs and reviews for accuracy
