Restaurateur/Hotelier Michael Zislis is excited to announce his latest project - a reimagination of Downtown Manhattan Beach’s iconic Manhattan Beach Brewing Company! Opened as a working brew pub in 1991 and renamed Brewco in 2010, Brewco closed its doors on January 31st and will reopen as an elevated social house gathering spot that embodies the spirit of Manhattan Beach.

Our restaurant cultivates a warm and inviting atmosphere for lunch, seamlessly transitioning into a memorable dining experience in the evening. brewco is crafted to appeal to those seeking both a casual and refined ambiance. Our space blends the beauty of nature with the comfort of modern design. From interior trees to natural stone, brass accents, and tiled touches, every corner of brewco exudes coastal charm and relaxed intimacy. Our environment feels sophisticated, yet modern with earthiness, refinement, and classic elegance.

We are looking for experienced Bartenders to get in on the ground floor as part of the opening team. We will be opening on May 22nd, 2024 so we are looking to fill these positions as soon as possible. Paid training will start upon hire. Prior experience, open availability and weekends are required. The restaurant will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays (subject to change in the future), so there are Wednesday thru Sunday shifts available.

What does brewco serve? Our food is true Californian, emphasizing dishes that are driven by local and sustainable ingredients with attention to seasonality and on the bounty of the region. We will serve rotisserie chicken, wood grilled meats and fish, fresh salads, sushi and incredible appetizers. Each dish is crafted with care and creativity, leaving you feeling special and taken care of with every bite. Brewco features an extensive selection of craft beers, curated eclectic wines, and a cutting edge cocktail program.

touts an impressive resume that includes a degree from the Culinary Institute of America and an honor roll of kitchen credits such as Wolfgang Puck’s Eureka and Spago, Checkers Hotel under Thomas Keller, Joachim Splichal’s Pinot Bistro, Hans Rockenwagner’s Rox, and the highly revered Boxer. Currently, he owns and operates critically acclaimed Redbird, high-volume special events and performing arts venue Vibiana and fast-casual Fritzi Coop in the Farmer’s Market at the Grove.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fully knowledgeable in craft cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine.
  • Willing to change kegs and knowledge of draft beer systems.
  • In depth food and ingredient knowledge (must pass menu tests.)
  • Comfortable describing food in detail. Will be serving food at the bar (full service bar.)
  • Guest experience and great service-forward. Takes pride in hospitality.
  • 2 years experience in a high volume restaurant.
  • 3-4 years experience bartending (craft cocktails, extensive wine and beer list.)
  • Bar prep knowledge.

  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of all bar beverages as required by management.
  • Properly follows all opening and closing procedures to ensure proper service for patrons.
  • Aware of all local liquor laws as well as company and departmental policies regarding consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Know all spirited beverages, beers and wines by the glass, on tap, and by the bottle. Be familiar with elements of the wine list and be able to discuss regions, styles, and varieties of wines offered.
  • Know how to properly make and serve all soft drinks, coffee and tea.
  • Know all drink recipes including garnish, glassware to be used and specific service, and consistently use these recipes during production.
  • Alert management to any problems within the bar area, including but not limited to stocking, storage and delivery of product, and suggest solutions to such problems, as applicable.
  • Accurately pour alcohol to ensure the restaurant maintains proper drink costs.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area by following proper daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning duties as needed. Ensure standards are met behind and in front of the bar.
  • Actively practice exceptional hospitality, utilizing S.A.N.E., Finding the Yes, and Collecting and Connecting Dots.
  • Embody and practice the Company Purpose (Creating Happiness) and Four Core Qualities (Friendliness, Show, Delight and Promptness).
  • Follow standards of service/mystery shop standards with each and every guest, each and every time.
  • Be a Creative Problem Solver-do what’s needed to make the guest happy.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and supplemental training sessions, being attentive and taking notes when appropriate.
  • Valid Food Handlers & RBS certificate at all times.
