Description:

The lab technician will partner heavily with chemical operators to make sure the raw materials, cook batches and finished product are compliant and at the quality standard for the customer. Day to day is fast paced and can switch ears abruptly. There are 6-8 cookers going at one time, plus raw materials being shipped in. Daily task: - Receive samples from production floor for testing. ---- You may start with a sample at 1pm and not need another until 3pm, but once the batch is getting close. You may need a sample at 3:30p, 3:45p and 3:50p - Calculate proper cook time or batch process that needs to happen (cool, blow, or quench) - Immediately direct production floor for next sample or process DD manufactures colors. In Louisville they are "the best in Browns" so they do all brown food coloring especially for liquids. Some of their top customers are coca cola and the bourbon industry. The Lab and people who work in the lab are the control station of the plant. Nothing moves to the next process unless the lab clears it to move. The lab is in charge of making sure the batch comes out correct. So they tell the operators when to pull samples, and when to cool it (turn off heat), blow it (release the air or gas), quench it (throw water in).

MUST HAVES: 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing or fastpaced environment Bachelors Degree in sciences MAYBE chemical engineering Excellent math skills Experience with an ERP system or similar database. Must be team oriented and possess decision-making skills.
