Job Description: Duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager include, but are not limited to, initiating, planning, and establishing policies and procedures for the Laboratory Department through constant appraisal, effective improvements, and operational evaluations. Maintains and updates standards, policies and procedures set forth by JCAHO and College of American Pathologists. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.Performs medium to heavy work. Stands, and walks continuously, sits on occasion. Stoops, kneels, turns and bends at the waist during patient treatment on continous basis. Lifts patients, supplies and equipment (100 pounds maximum) occasionally. Reaches for, lifts, carries and handles relatively light equipment and materials frequently. Pushes wheelchairs, charts, and equipment frequently. Makes frequent trips to all hospital areas. Agrees to receive and pass required post-off examinations. Vision required to independently read and sees work related items including but not limited to paper(s), computer screen, etc. Hearing rquired to independently interact with all people related to all job tasks. Finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, gross and fine arm-hand, leg-foot movements and manipulations necessary for all job duties and tasks. Independence in cognitive, perception, judgement, attention, interpretation, and other related and necessary mental abilities required for all job duties and tasks. Frequently able to tolerate stressful situations physically and emotionally.
Requirements: Bachelor Degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of a CAHEA accredited Medical Technology Program or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years of laboratory experience with at least two (2) years of hospital supervisory experience.
