Role:

To assist customers with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments; to perform other duties within the branch, such as backing up the head teller, vault teller, or Personal Bankers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Receives and processes customer financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments; except for drive-thru tellers, sells cashier's checks to customers; transfers amounts from customer accounts as directed.

May back up head teller, vault teller, or customer service representative as needed.

Balances cash drawer and daily transactions; keeps currency in drawer within currency limits; sells excess currency to vault teller.

Answers customer inquiries and recommends appropriate products and services; makes referrals to appropriate bank personnel.

Prepares and sends work for imaging/processing.

Makes reports of large currency transactions and reports any suspicious activity to supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education

A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills

Work involves contact with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for the purpose of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (Customers or vendors), requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

Other Skills

Ten key calculator and computer keyboard by touch. Must be good with detail to deal with numbers and names.

Physical Requirements

The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates or clients and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer. Position requires standing for extended periods; may require stooping and lifting coin trays and bags.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and may require travel to branches and other locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as calculators, computers, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets and fax machines.
