Concord Hospital is Hiring a Mental health worker Near Laconia, NH

Summary

The voluntary, inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is a 12 bed unit. The Yellow Pod is a 6 bed unit located in the Emergency Department and serves both voluntary and involuntary patients.

We provide acute, psychiatric care for our patients. Our care is delivered with compassion and respect from the point of admission to the point of discharge.

We have a multi-disciplinary team of experts which includes providers, registered nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and other unit staff that works with each patient on an individual basis and in groups.

Our team provides the most current therapeutic approaches to diagnosing and treating psychiatric and substance use disorders through our partnership with Riverbend Community Mental Health.

We offer a supportive learning environment with a focus on work-life balance. Our nurses receive specialty training in psychiatric mental health nursing.

Flexible scheduling. Shifts are 12 hours in length, starting at 7am or 7pm. Every other weekend is required.

Education

High school or GED preferred.

Required : Proof of LNA Education Certificate and Final Report of Written and Clinical Competency Testing Results (as required by NH Board of Nursing).

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Certification required : Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association.

Management of Aggressive Behavior part 1 and 2 completion within 6 months of hire.

Licensure required : Current New Hampshire Nursing Assistant License.

Experience

Demonstrates ability to perform as a team member and effective communicator. One year related mental health experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with patients and significant others. Performs behavioral checks and intervenes safely while managing patients on One to One Observations, every 15 or 30 minute checks or while providing care.
  • Performs activities of daily living and personal care needs under the guidance and supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Orientspatientand / orsignificantother(s)tosituationandsurroundings.
  • Performs de-escalation techniques and ability to intervene safely using least restrictive measures relating to physical, mental health, and social needs of patients.

Performs functions related to direct visual and / or video monitoring patients either in their room , milieu environment or other area as indicated to maintain a safe environment.

Uses time management skills.

Maintains appropriate boundaries with patients.

Receives delegated work adhering to the five rights of delegation.
