Position Summary

This is entry-level Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) work providing direct and indirect basic nursing care following individual care plans for geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired residents at WVHK. Nursing care is provided in accordance with American Nurses Association and gerontological nursing standards; federal, state, and Veterans Administration regulations; the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of WVHK and the Department.

Responsibilities include providing basic nursing care following a written care plan to help meet the therapeutic, preventative, restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive and rehabilitative needs of WVHK members. This includes cognitive techniques to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. Our CNAs are an integral part of the health care team and work under the limited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor, with day-to-day direction by licensed nursing staff.

Salary Information

The pay for this position is $18.05 per hour with additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Pay and hours expectations will follow all state and federal laws and regulations for minor employees.

This job does not offer employee benefits.

The position is in pay schedule-pay range 06-10.

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts are available AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidate preferences gathered at time of interview.

LTE jobs are limited to 1039 hours in a 12-month period and do not include employee benefits.

Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employees at this healthcare facility are required to provide documentation of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by date of hire. Reasonable accommodations for exemptions to this requirement will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with applicable law.

Qualifications

These jobs require certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally certified nursing home as a CNA. Candidates must be 16 years old and certified at the time of hire.

In addition to the CNA requirement, minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

* Providing basic patient care; and

* With professional communication; and

* With medical recordkeeping

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:

* Maintaining equipment and inventory; and/or

* Using computer programs; and/or

* Performing safely and security duties; and/or

* Providing advanced nursing care; and/or

* Working as a CNA in a relevant setting (i.e., health care, geriatrics, 24/7 facility)
