Position Purpose:
Develop and implement engineering solutions for new products. Develop operator detail instructions for processes.. Active communication with hourly group assisting with needs and process improvements. Ability to utilize a structure problem solving approach when working to resolve issues.
Essential Functions:
- Support manufacturing to protect the customer
- Member of product launch teams for manufacturing engineering support
- Optimize machining programs to allow flexibility
- Optimize tool and insert selection to increase productivity
- Decrease setup and changeover times.
- Develop and maintain operator work instructions for all products.
- Define future technology requirements
- Assist in defining long-range capital planning
- Selection, justification and implementation of CNC equipment
- Design and development and implementation of CNC fixtures
- Improve effectiveness of product and process change method
- Refinement of machining process through tooling and methods optimization
- Optimization of labor by implementing concurrent work
- Assist product launch teams with Industrial Engineering support
- Improve manufacturing capabilities and capacities
- Validate routers for specified work centers
- Analyze existing procedures & processes for improvements
- Develop and maintain operator work instructions for Kitting/Distribution operations and assigned Assembly Cells.
- Support Kitting and Packaging lines, Beam and Saddle Assembly/Kitting
- Plant Layout
- Define future technology requirements
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years’ experience required
- Experience with lean manufacturing environments
- AutoCad, NX, MSOffice, Mastercam, Mpact, or similar software/programming experience
- Automotive background a plus
- Capital equipment procurement background a plus
- Preventative Maintenance and TPM a plus
- Assembly experience a plus
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of CNC machining centers
- Knowledge of macro programming preferred
- Knowledge of tooling selection and optimization
- Hydraulic fixture design skills required
- Background in team approach to problem solving
- Ability to manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks on a time bound schedule required
- Knowledge of IATF16949
- CNC machining knowledge
- Ability to manage, prioritize and complete multiple tasks on a time bound schedule required.
- Background in team approach to problem solving required
- Working knowledge of labor and machining standards preferred
