Job Summary

The Dena'ina Wellness Center features an integrated model of care. The Behavioral Health Clinician will be part of our team as we enhance our integrated service delivery model between healthcare disciplines. The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of clinical services to behavioral health clients (un'ina). Clinical services include: comprehensive behavioral health assessments, development and ongoing review of treatment plans, transition/discharge planning and individual and group counseling sessions. Full-time Behavioral Health Clinicians have the option of working 4 10-hour per days; this position covers at least one of the remaining days per week (10 hours per day).

Essential Functions

  • Provide Integrated Behavioral Health Assessments through a variety of evaluation techniques.
  • Provide counseling through a variety of treatment modalities, including individual, group, and family therapy that meet behavioral health standards of care.
  • Understands and is able to provide an eclectic therapy model including: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed, and addiction modalities.
  • Coordinate services with Chemical Dependency team for co-occurring disorder un'inas.
  • Participate in supervision, peer consultation and peer records review.
  • Actively participate in meetings that support the integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for un'inas.
  • Maintain un'ina records in accordance with the Tribe's and Medicaid standards.
  • Timely submission of un'ina billing information.
  • Kenaitze Indian Tribe licensed and certified personnel will be held accountable for providing services in accordance with relevant external or internal requirements and education, such as, legislation governing practice; licensure, registration, and certification requirements; professional degrees; professional training to maintain established competency levels; on-the-job training requirements of the program; and professional standards of practice.
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

  • Masters in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required

Experience

  • Five to seven years post-master's experience providing behavioral health services including experience with youth & adults, and drug and alcohol programs preferred
  • Experience with computerized management information system/AKAIMS
  • Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian people preferred

License/Certification

  • Licensed as a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in Alaska or eligible for licensure
  • Certification as State of Alaska Chemical Dependency Counselor I or II, preferred
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire

  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities

Special Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal communications, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of child protection and ICWA laws
  • Ability to lift program materials weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 regulations
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines

This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.
