Brightspeed has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Network Engineer to join our brand new, state of the art laboratory. As a Lead Network Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting device and service testing in our end-to-end laboratory network. You will work with our team of engineers on developing and conducting test cases to identify issues and verify new products and firmware updates meet our standards for deployment.

As Lead Network Engineer you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing on telecommunication/network equipment.
  • Work with the team on developing and improving tests.
  • Support testing and development of our Voice over IP network.
  • Provide detail documentation on test findings.
  • Work with the Network Architects to develop Golden Configuration for Brightspeed’s network devices, from proof of concept and throughout the device life cycle.
  • Provide readouts of test results and root cause analysis.
  • Work closely with vendors on solutions, defect fixes, and new products and firmware releases.
  • Assist in developing and maintain standards and guidelines to preserve test integrity.
  • Discover new innovations to improve our customers experience and laboratory capabilities.
  • Be a thought leader in collaborative innovation.
Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 8 years of internet service provider experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in multiple areas: VOIP, SIP, SS7, Routing and switching.
  • Must be able to collaborate with a diverse team of individuals.
  • Experience with technology or process testing.
  • Experience with trouble isolation and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on detailed documentation.

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Master’s degree, or relevant experience.
  • Industry certifications.
  • Scripting experience with a preference for Python.
  • Experience with Vendor relations.
  • Knowledge of Spirent Test Center, Viavi or VeEx test sets, and other testing tools and applications.
